Comments: We started this hike hoping to find
a hilltop called Victory. We missed our first reference point, a water
tower which was only seven minutes into the walk so what chance Victory.
Eventually finding the tower we set off along a dirt track taking us up an
easygoing gradient towards the Bataan Mountains. After one and a half hours we reached
what we decided was the highest point of this particular ridge. It offered
great views of the Bataan and Zambales Mountains, Mount Arayat and Manila
Bay. Deciding to leave Victory for another day we set off down into the
Maite river valley to return to Brgy Bamban by a different route. We found
a nice shady picturesque track taking us past a couple of unnamed barrios
towards the point where the small Maite river entered the slightly larger
Pinulot river. Past San Benito and into Bamban we then motored back to the
Fox Hole to take in a different type of wildlife.
