Comments: This was the highlight of the annual adventure into the Cordillera Mountains of northern Luzon by a few hardy hashers. The hike started from the View Point at the nine kilometer marker out of Banaue, the rice terrace capital of the Philippines, on the road to Bontoc. After a three hour hike through temperate forest we emerged on some more rice terraces at the small village of Pula. From here the track went steeply upward along a pine covered ridge and into yet more rainforest. Then it was back on the ridges again before reaching the overnight stopover of Barlig. The accommodation at both ends was a bit basic, but at less than two dollars a night who could complain.        I.M.
