Comments:
A bit more strenuous today as we went looking for some real
hiking with the tower atop Mt Ampacao as our main aim. An hour after
leaving Sagada we were at the small Danom Lake with, as Sip Sip said, the
same solitary horse standing morosely in exactly the same spot as last
year. Leaving the lake we came upon a narrow concrete path that led us
through vegetable gardens to the barrio of Suquib all the time surrounding
us with scenery that was truly beautiful. The next stop was Besao town
centre a further two kilometers down the road. We then got on to the ridge
line taking us to Mt Ampacao and eventually its summit. On the way back to
Sagada we made a detour to Sumaging Cave just to stick our heads in for a
look so to speak. Actually the entrance was rather wide. Saput found some
extra energy and decided to do the one hour guided tour of the Cave. To
the rest of us, tired legs and slippery cavern floors didn’t sound like a
good mix. Maybe next year.
