Comments: The hike started at the back end of Puerto Galera and we were immediately trudging uphill to the PG water tank at Barrio Baclayan. From there it was on to a winding single file track which when we reached a rest stop was found to have been leech infested. First time hosts were frantically pulling the little buggers from their legs and shoes while the old stagers stood around and laughed. Once sanity had prevailed we carried on until the top of Mt Baclayan was reached. This should have yielded great views all round but instead only showed low lying clouds. A pity. We followed a narrow trail along the ridge to yet another de-leeching stop. Scrotum, the hare, showed his local knowledge by producing salt that got rid of the damned things quickly. We then hit a great trail through a magnificent stretch of rain forest to eventually climb a bloody high hill before Scrotum decided he had taken a wrong turn somewhere. So it was back down a couple of hundred yards to find the proper path. Now it was all downhill as we inched our way slowly down a steep narrow track to reach a vehicular dirt track at the bottom. This took us past the Ponderosa golf course and then it was a fairly easy three kilometres descent to the White Beach Barrio and resort area where we drowned any leeches that were still attached to us in the seawater. We then boarded the Asia Divers banca where we drank cold piss and gave thanks to Scrotum for a great hike. We traveled back to Sabang by banca to The Point for our on on home. Saput, our ACH3 Grand Master, surprised everyone, including himself I suppose, by falling asleep in the bar. This is a grave capital offence for an Angeles hasher. At the next ACH3 circle he will be punished with the Pilsbury. No doubt retribution will be swift. A memorable day out.
