Comments: Attempted to get a jeepney short cut to the Clark/Subic Expressway but was foiled by the Caulaman River where we had to wade across and then do a pointless extra two kilometres walk to our original starting place. It could only get better and it did, a long single file trail took us through some terrific terrain to eventually deposit us halfway up the track to Batiawan. We carried on past Batiawan only to turn back when it became obvious that we had exceeded our time-distance ratio, (don’t know what that means but it sounds good). Back down the main track again to finish the hike just as darkness fell.
