Comments:
We started on up a semi overgrown
trail to the top of Hill 394 to find that most of us were covered in
prickly burrs. The all round view of Mountains Santa Rosa, Natib, Cuadrado,
Malasimbo, Familiar Peak and Redondo Peninsula more than compensated for
the aggravation. Downhill again and into a small beautiful rice paddy
valley passing the US Navy built SBMA water-pumping station. (It was
actually completed a few months before the USN were kicked out of Subic).
Onto the Bataan-SBMA road and back into the base at the Morong Gate.
Through the old Munitions area, disturbing about twenty monkeys who all
scattered off into the deeper undergrowth, doing Hill 394 in reverse and
yet again being covered in burrs, the hike being completed at the Medical
Centre. On into Subic City for a few hours where some of the pack enjoyed
themselves considerably more than the others. Thanks Teutonic.
