Comments:
The most time on today’s hike was
spent walking on the ridge trail that starts at barrio Kalangitan (soon to
become a garbage dump). Due to the usual lack of trees it was a case of
keep on going until we could find a shady spot for a lunch break.
Eventually we chanced upon an old farm shed, which was directly opposite
Malasa on the eastern ridge, where we had a well earned rest. On
resumption of the hike T.I.C. and T.I.B. (pity it isn’t T.I.C., T.O.C.)
short-cutted through the valley towards Malasa while the rest of us
continued along the ridge. Passing the Aeta cemetery above Malasa yet
again it was sad observing the high proportion of child sized graves in
this small cemetery. We had a bit of a problem two kilometres from Dap Dap when the
trail disappeared in a burnt out banana plantation but it was soon located
after we slipped and slithered down a steep, ash covered slope.
